Indonesia to buy six Su-30MK2 aircraft

Russia's Vnesheconombank (VEB) has granted a loan to Indonesia of $ 399.5 million to finance the purchase of six Su-30MK2 fighters and Russian support materials (source: BSR).

The credit will be granted for a period of seven years after the agency Russian arms export, Rosoboronexport, which will provide the aircraft.

This is the second loan provided by the bank VEB to the Ministry of Finance of Indonesia over the past two years. It is the result of a call for tenders issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Finance to finance the purchase of fighter aircraft.

The six aircraft will be the second squadron of Su-30MK Flanker purchased by Indonesia. The aircraft entered service in the late 1990s and initially operated in the Indian Air Force has acquired fifty aircraft. It is also in service in China, Malaysia and Algeria.


Version MK (Modernizirovannyi kommercheskiy) Su-30 was developed in 1997 specifically for the export market.
