The Chinese J-20 stealth is it really?

The Chengdu J-20 is the first prototype stealth fighter aircraft developed by China. The country has invested heavily in this project marks a major modernization of the People's Liberation Army and its air power capabilities in particular.

This aircraft is not the whim of a general of the PLAAF or a technological challenge Chengdu Aircraft to impress the West. The J-20 is designed in a strategic aircraft large, long range, agile and with a large capacity weapon in its internal bays. Its mission is not only to be thrown off the coast of China, but also in the world. Its success depends on his mission against the enemy radar stealth and especially against its major rivals: the U.S. F-22 Raptor and the PAK FA T-50 Russian.
The Chinese did they meet these design criteria? In July 2011, Dr. Michael Pelosi and Dr. Carlo Kopp issued a preliminary assessment and speculative performance of stealth Chengdu J-20 through a wide range of radar frequencies.

It is based on simulations using physical simulation algorithm performed on optical frequencies of 150 MHz, 600 MHz, 1.2 GHz, 3.0 GHz, 6.0 GHz, 8.0 GHz, 12.0 GHz, 16.0 GHz and 28 GHz without an absorbent covering and for frequencies of 1.2 GHz, 3.0 GHz, 6.0 GHz, 8.0 GHz, 12.0 GHz, 16.0 GHz with an absorbent coating, covering all angular aspects of the cell.

Representation polychrome (RAP) of the J-20 radar on a frequency of 150 MHz VHF (very high frequency) used by very long range radars (eg, ballistic missile detection). More color temperature is warmer and the radar signature is high.

These simulations showed that if the J-20 retains the axisymmetric vectoring nozzles and softened edges, the plane could best deliver low radar signature essentially forward with his nose angle very close to that of F-22 Raptor.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Richard Aboulafia , aviation analyst for the Teal Group , an aerospace and defense company, said China is still far from producing stealth aircraft.
"The J-20 is a vision of the future Chinese stealth. Its appearance and its shape reminiscent of the F-22, but when you look in detail the aircraft, you realize that it is just a plane rigged. Take for example the canard: the wings are narrow on the nose of the aircraft to ensure its workability. There is no better way to guarantee that adding radar reflection ducks in the aircraft. ". He added: "It is quite possible that in 10 years the Chinese produce a plane equivalent to the F-22, but by then, the West has also gone a step further," he concluded.
In comparison, the representation polychrome PAK FA T-50 Russian 150 MHz.
